Obituary

Ole was born August 7, 1921, near Halstad, MN the son of Olaf and Sophie (Wahl) Gilbertson. He was raised and attended school in that community. Ole was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in the Halstad Lutheran church. He moved with his family to the Gary, MN area as a young man. In 1942, he entered the US Army and served his country during World War II in the Philippine's. After his discharge in 1945, he returned to the Gary community where he farmed. On November 9, 1968, Ole was united in marriage to Ella Broers in Gary. They made their home in Twin Valley while he continued to operate his farm. In the early 1970's, Ole began working as a carpenter both in building elevators and later for Great Plains Lumber in Twin Valley. Later he worked on the Lloyd Spielman farm east of Twin Valley for a number of years. After his retirement he worked in his shop doing wood projects and in his garden. Ella died on December 12, 2001.

He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW.

Ole is survived by four daughters, Harriet (Doug) Andersen and Sandra (Steve) Boman), both of Twin Valley, MN, Ilene Allrich, Dilworth, MN and Joyce (Stewart) Klask, Ada, MN; one son, Glen (Linda) Broers, Glyndon, MN; eleven grandchildren and four great grandchilren. One niece, Karen (Bob Erickson) Carlsrud, Moorhead, MN and two nephews, Dale (Roberta) Carlsrud, Towers City, ND and Duane Carlsrud, Gary, MN, also survives him

His parents, his wife, one brother, one sister and five grandchildren preceded him in death.

Visitation was held Sunday, August 13, 2006 from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM with a prayer service at 5:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home, Twin Valley and one hour before services at the church.

Funeral services were held Monday, August 14, at 2:00 PM in Gary Lutheran Church, Gary, MN.
Pastor H. William Beyer officiated. Karen Carlsrud served as organist with Karen Bergstrom as vocalist. Pallbearers were Doug Andersen Jr., Chad Broers, Adam Broers, Seth Boman, Scott Boman, Sawyer Boman, Jason Allrich, Darren Carlsrud and Ryan Carlsrud. Honorary pallbearers were Cindi Allrich, Kathy Asbury, Mindy Nitchke, Destiny Johnson and Kelsey Carlsrud. The Twin Valley Nesseth Lien Post # 431 of the American Legion and the Flom-Twin Valley VFW Post #3818 provided military rites. Interment is at the Twin Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
