Nyla Harrington, 87, of Halstad, MN, died Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at the Halstad Living Center, Halstad, MN.

Nyla Mae Nelson was born on October 3, 1924, in Bonetrail, ND, the daughter of Nels and Millie (Grimstvedt) Nelson. She attended school with her siblings in Bonetrail and later moved with her family to Baudette, MN.



On October 13, 1942, Nyla was united in marriage to Frank Harrington at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hendrum. They lived on the home farm in Elm River Township for many years, raising their family and farming.



Since 1966, Nyla and Frank spent there winters in Mesa, AZ, living in the same home for 28 years. They returned home in the spring to continue farming. In 2007, they moved to the Heritage Center in Halstad. Frank died on February 28, 2011, and on December 16, 2011, Nyla entered the Halstad Living Center.



Nyla enjoyed painting, baking, cooking, and spending time with friends. She would entertain family and friends whenever she could. She often extended herself to help other over the years.



Nyla is survived by her two sons, Lynn (Joan), Hillsboro, ND, and Terry (Cheryl), Fergus Falls, MN; one daughter, Doreen Harrington, Wahpeton, ND; five grandchildren, Mark (Terri), Melissa (Pete) Kautzman, Jill (Neil) Fandrich, Ryan, and Stacia (Matt) Sytsma; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Gladys Bratvold, Baker, MT, and one brother, David (Phyllis)Nelson, Portland, OR. She was preceded by her parents, husband, infant daughter Linda, and one brother, Clarence Nelson.

Funeral Service: 11:00am Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at Halstad Lutheran Church, Halstad, MN.

Visitation: Monday from 4:00-6:00pm with a Prayer Service at 6:00pm, at Halstad Living Center, Halstad, MN.

Burial: Quincy Cemetery, rural Grandin, ND.
