Norman VanPelt, age 48, of Redwing, MN, formerly of Naytahwaush, MN, died on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Redwing Nursing Home in Redwing, MN.

Norman Lee VanPelt was born January 29, 1967, in Minneapolis, MN, to Norman Erickson and Beverly Murray.  His youth was spent in the Twin Cities area where he attended school.  Norman moved to the Naytahwaush area and began working at the Shooting Star casino.  Norman helped out his mom until 2010 when she passed away.  Due to declining health, Norman moved to the Redwing Nursing Home in 2011. Norman indulged in some gambling and he loved to play cards.  Dummy Rummy and cribbage were a couple of his favorites.  He also liked a good game of scrabble.

Norman is survived by his brother, Michael VanPelt, Mpls and his sister, Tina VanPelt, Mahnomen, his nieces and nephews and great nieces, nephews and cousins.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Robert VanPelt, and aunts, uncles and elders.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Samuel Memorial Episcopal Church in Naytahwaush.   His wake will be from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm, with Prayer Service beginning at 7:00, on Monday, September 14, 2015 at Naytahwaush Sports Complexin Naytahwaush.  Burial will be at Samuel Memorial Cemetery.
