Norma Lunde, age 91, of Flom, MN died on Saturday, August 6, 2016.

Norma Mae Rikhus was born August 14, 1924, the daughter of Norman and Mildred (Jadrny) Rikhus in Ulen, MN. She was baptized by Rev. Yilvisaker of Hitterdal and later confirmed her faith by Rev. Grimsrud in the Lutheran church in Hitterdal. During her young life, Norma moved with her family to the Lundberg farm until 1934, then west to the Vataas farm until 1941, and the last place they moved to was the Person farm near Ulen. Norma started school at Sunnyside Country School near Ulen for her first year, then to Hitterdal through her sophomore year. She attended Ulen for her junior and senior year, where she graduated. After graduation, Norma was employed for one year at Lien's Café in Ulen and one year at Mass Sweet Shop in Hawley.

On May 17, 1944, Norma was united in marriage to Orlando Lunde at her parents' home near Ulen by Rev. J.R. Runholt. The couple made their home on a farm east of Flom before moving to the Dorseth farm where they lived until 1950. At that time they moved back to the farm and lived in the basement while their house was being built. Ed Juve built their house which was made from used lumber from the Lake Park Children's Home. After living there for a time, Norma and Orlando spent five years in Babbitt, MN, while Orlando was employed with Reserve Mining Company. In 1961, they returned to the Flom community. Norma worked as a bookkeeper at the Flom Coop Oil from 1968 to 2000, when she retired.

Norma was an active member of Aspelund Lutheran Church where she enjoyed Bible Study groups. She held offices in WELCA as well as the Flom VFW Auxiliary. Norma will be remembered as the cheerful person at the door to take your money at the many local Flom events. Her favorite pastimes included reading, doing crosswords, embroidery, watching Mollie B Polka Party and Jeopardy, going bowling, and playing cards. Norma loved spending time with her friends and truly treasured the time she spent with her family.

Norma is survived by her sons, Gary (Linda) Lunde and David (Diane) Lunde; daughters, Sandra (Terry) Fornes and Rhonda (Jim) Tweeter; 14 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter; a brother, Raymond Rikhus; and a sister, Kay Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Orlando; son, Arlen; great-grandson, Isaac; brothers, Joseph and Sam; sister, Lois Thielen and two baby sisters.

Visitation will be held at Aspelund Lutheran Church, rural Flom, MN, on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 p.m., with the Prayer Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the funeral. Funeral Services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 10, at Aspelund Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Pastor Al Brooks with Carol Johnson serving as organist. Special music will be provided by Carol Lockhart and Steve Lunde. Pallbearers will be Jeff Lunde, Jason Lunde, Dwayne Lunde, Chad Lunde, Brian Fornes, Mike Clark, Tom Dubbels and Pete Steichen. Honorary pallbearers will be Michelle Clark, Lisa Dubbels, Valorie Steichen, Christy Eickhoff, Brenda Norris, Cindy Blakeway, Chrissy Jacobson, Jill Turner and Trina Thiel.

Interment will be in Aspelund Lutheran Cemetery, Flom.
