Nina Waller, age 93, of Twin Valley, MN, died Sunday, October 19, 2014, in Twin Valley Living Center, Twin Valley.

Nina Sevena Marie Erickson Waller was born February 24, 1921, the daughter of Oscar and Ada (LaFayette) Erickson on the farm in Fossum Township, rural Twin Valley. She was their ninth child and seventh daughter. Nina attended Four Corners School until the 8th grade and graduated from Twin Valley High School with the class of 1938. After graduating, Nina worked in Sault St. Marie, MI and Chicago, IL, before returning to Twin Valley to assist her mother.

On June 20, 1943, Nina was united in marriage to James S. Waller. To this union three children were born: Sharon, Sylvia and Ronald. They farmed 3 1/2 miles SE of Twin Valley. Nina was very active in the farming operation, helping with the milking and field work as well as raising a large garden. Over the years, Nina was employed at Waller Lefse Factory in Ulen, Viking Snowmobile Sewing Factory in Twin Valley and the Lutheran Memorial Nursing Home in Twin Valley in the kitchen.

James and Nina moved into Twin Valley after retiring in 1975. James passed away on April 12, 1995, and Nina made the Valley Pines Apartments her home in 2009. She became a resident of the Twin Valley Living Center in 2011 where she lived until the time of her death.

Nina was an avid seamstress, sewing all the dresses for her daughters and herself. She also made quilts, afghans, embroidered dishtowels, and did counted cross-stich that her children and grandchildren will treasure. Over the years, Nina was active in her church teaching Sunday School, attending circle and Bible study. Nina will also be remembered for her cooking and baking special treats.

Nina is survived by her two daughters, Sharon (Dan) Buckle and Sylvia (Merlyn) Olson all of Twin Valley, MN; a daughter-in-law, Janet Waller of Twin Valley, MN; sisters, Luverne (Cal) Bredman of Ada, MN, and Leola Widme of Twin Valley; a sister-in-law, Florence Erickson of Twin Valley; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and a son, Ronald, three brothers and five sisters.

Funeral Services were held on Thursday, October 23, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, Twin Valley. Visitation was Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. in the Anderson Family Funeral Home, Twin Valley. Visitation was also one hour prior to the service at the church. Officiating was Pastor Sarah Dille with Danette Gwin serving as organist. Special music was provided by Leigh Lampton and Mike Klemetson. Pallbearers were her grandsons: Randy Waller, Brian Waller, Darren Buckle, Robert Buckle, Steve Waller and Matthew Olson. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters: Saundra Dietz, Jennifer Waller, Crystal Olson and Sharla Mandt.

Interment took place in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Twin Valley.
