Nathan Meyer, 85, of Ulen, MN, died Sunday, December 3, 2017, at Essentia Health Systems, Fargo, ND.
Nathan Roland Meyer was born at home on September 18, 1932, to John and Adeline (Nelson) Meyer in Clay County near Hitterdal, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Highland Grove Lutheran Church. Nathan attended school at Hitterdal Public School and graduated high school with the class of 1950. He was united in marriage to Carol June Nodsle on December 26, 1955, at the Eksjo Lutheran Church near Lake Park, MN. Over the years, Nathan farmed with his father and was also employed at various other jobs including the Hawley Produce and Locker Plant, Bjerke's Laker Plant, and Tri-County Elevator in Ulen. After 21 years of faithful employment at Community Coops of Lake Park, he retired in 2007.
As a longtime member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Nathan was currently the financial secretary and had volunteered as the janitor for the past 13 years. He was a past member of the Ulen Volunteer Fire Department. Nathan enjoyed being involved and giving back to his community especially when it came to carving turkey for the annual Turkey BBQ in Ulen. His helping hand and big smile will be missed by all that knew him.
Nathan is survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, Carol; his daughter, Beth (John) Weitzel, Fargo, ND; three sisters, Joan Grefsrud and Janet Burns, both of Hawley, MN, and Juanita (Wendell) Leno, Prior Lake, MN; one brother-in-law, Charles Nelson, Kindred, ND; one sister-in-law, Carlee Meyer, Detroit Lakes, MN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Bruce Michael; one brother, John; two sisters, Aileen Malakowsky and Janine Nelson; three brothers-in-law, Raymond Grefsrud, Don Burns, and Roy Malakowsky; and three nephews, Patrick Burn, Thomas Nelson, and Ronn Malakowsky.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 8, 2017, at 2 pm at the Calvary Lutheran Church, Ulen, MN, with visitation one hour prior at the church. Burial will take place in the Calvary Lutheran Cemetery, Ulen.
