Naomi Carolyn Aanenson, 85, of Ada MN, died on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at the Bridges Care Community, Ada. Naomi was born on March 23, 1928, to Adolph and Zella (DeWitt) Hovland at home in Perley Township, Norman County, MN. Her family lived in several places in Norman County before settling in Ada, MN in 1933. She attended school at Ada and graduated from the Ada High School. Naomi worked for the Norman County Highway Department for 6 years in the office.
On March 11, 1952, Naomi was united in marriage to Arthur Aanenson at Ada. They moved to Anthony Township, where they farmed until Art's death in 1975. Naomi moved to Ada and worked for the ASCS office in Ada for 15 years. She retired and continued to be involved with community and VFW Auxiliary activities. Naomi was a longtime member of East Marsh River Lutheran Church, Anthony Twp, holding several offices and teaching Sunday School for many years. In July of 2011, Naomi entered the Bridges Care Community, Ada.
Being independent and self sufficient came naturally to Naomi. She never wanted others to fuss over her concerns. Naomi loved to read and keep her mind active. Watching the Minnesota Twins and Jeopardy were relaxing times for her. Flower gardening brought her a sense of fulfillment. Throughout her life, Naomi's faith carried her through many difficult times and helped her focus on the great hope in Jesus.
Naomi is survived by her children: Gene (Patti), Larimore, ND; Ted, Austin, TX, Amy Aanenson, Burnsville, MN, and Mark (Gini), West Fargo, ND; nine grandchildren: Perry, Patrick, Michael, Matthew, Carissa, Staci, Josh, Ashley, and Luke; three great-grandchildren: Gage, Carter, and Emily; brothers: Floyd (Harriet), Ada, MN, Dwight (Aurora), Anchorage, AK, Keith (Wanda), Wimbledon, ND, and Wayne, NE; sister, Jeanette "Jan" Shaw, Ada, MN, one brother-in-law, Raymond Bitker, Ada; many nephews and nieces. She is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, son, Jon, brother, Lynn, and sister, Vera Bitker.

Funeral services will be on Monday, June 10, 2013, at 10:30 am in the Grace Lutheran Church, Ada, MN.
Visitation will be one before the services.
Burial will be in the East Marsh River Lutheran Cemetery, rural Halstad, MN.
