Myrtle C. Ramstad, 93, of Halstad, MN, died peacefully Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND, with family by her side.

She was born June 25, 1917, in Halstad, MN, to Palmer and Inga (Aalgaard) Holm. She attended school in the rural Halstad area in a one room schoolhouse that many of her siblings attended. She spent the majority of her life living in the Halstad area. She married Julius Ramstad in 1946 in Shelly, MN, and together they had one son Duane (Dewey) who was born in 1947. She spent most of her life as a dedicated homemaker, wife, mother, sister, grandmother and aunt. Myrtle was extremely devoted to her family and her faith.

One of her favorite pastimes she enjoyed was spending time at the family farm where she could reconnect and spend time with family members. She had a huge heart and was always concerned about the needs of others, often before her own. Myrtle enjoyed many hobbies which included baking, quilting, completing crosswords and other puzzles. She became an avid fan of singer Daniel O'Donnell in her later years and collected every recording she could find. She had a picture with him, which she proudly displayed next to her television. She loved to listen to or watch the Minnesota Twins whenever possible, even cheering them on late into the night if they played on the west coast.

She is survived by her sisters, Inez Anderson (Fargo, ND) Eunice (Donald) Wang (Halstad, MN) Irene Stigen (Halstad, MN) Marlys (Harris) Selvig (Ortonville, MN) brothers, Eugene (Sylvia) Holm (Fargo, ND) Morris (Maxine) Holm (Lakota, ND) daughter-in-law, Janet Ramstad (Fargo, ND) grandchildren, Jason (Nicole) Ramstad (Fargo, ND) Brett (Ronda) Ramstad (St. Paul, MN) great-granddaughter Avery Ramstad and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Palmer and Inga Holm, husband, Julius Ramstad, son, Duane (Dewey) Ramstad, brothers, Wallace Holm, Herman Holm, Kenneth Holm, and Irwin Holm.

Funeral Service: 1:00pm on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at Halstad Lutheran Church, Halstad, MN


Visitation: Monday from 5:00-7:00pm with a Prayer Service at 6:30pm at the Fredrikson Valley Funeral Home, Halstad, MN.

Burial: Augustana Lutheran Cemetery.
