Myrtle Haug, age 87, of Ulen, Minnesota, died Saturday, June 16, 2007, in Viking Manor Nursing Home, Ulen.

Myrtle Alice Haug was born December 17, 1919, the daughter of Albert and Amanda (Hillstead) Ose on a farm near Gary, Minnesota where she grew up and attended country school. She attended seventh grade in Mahnomen and was confirmed in a country school house east of Bejou, Minnesota. As a young woman, Myrtle worked for her aunt and uncle milking cows and for Carl and Bernice Sather doing housework. In June, 1940, Myrtle was united in marriage to Arnold Sather at Rindahl, Minnesota. The couple farmed near Ulen until Arnold's death in 1958. Myrtle and her children then moved into Ulen. Myrtle was united in marriage to Ted Haug on July 21st, 1961 in Moorhead, Minnesota, where the couple made their home. In their later years, Myrtle and Ted began cleaning for their children's business, Duane's House of Pizza in Moorhead, which they did for 13 years. Ted died on September 9, 1995. Myrtle continued to live in Moorhead until moving to the Agassiz Apartments in Ulen in 1999. In 2002, Myrtle became a resident at the Viking Manor Nursing Home where she had made her home since.

Myrtle enjoyed playing cards, bingo and doing puzzles, but most of all she treasured the time she spent with her family.

Myrtle is survived by a daughter, Gloria (Stan) Price of Ulen, MN; sons, Mervin (Dawn) Sather of Nederland, TX and Arnold, Jr. (Geraldine) Sather of New Orleans, LA; brother, Duane (Sharon) Ose of Elk River, MN; sisters, Violet Holland of Bejou, MN, Ruby Reemts of St. Michael, MN; step-daughters, Ann (late Duane) Schultz of Frazee, MN and Linda (late Gerald) Bullock of Moorhead, MN; grandchildren, Laurie, Randy, Dan, Roy, Darin, Eric, Kirsten, Tina, Katie, Chris, Kathy, Steve, Beth and Beckie; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Trent, Travis, Patrick, Callie, Rebekah, Christopher, Aaron, Cole, Kaitlyn, Christina, Harrison, Brianna, Michelle, Eric, Luke, Michael, Ben, Jennifer, Karla, Kasey, Logan, Emily, Brandon and Melissa; great-great-grandchildren, Carson Todd Peterson, Hailey and special friend, Gretchen Bjerken.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both of her husbands, a grandson, Todd Peterson, two sisters, Bertha and Lila, six brothers, Norman, Alan, Raymond, Lester, Ervin and Duane (infant).

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 21st, at 10:30 AM in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Ulen, MN. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 6:30 PM all in the church. Visitation will also be one hour before services at the church on Thursday. Officiating will be Pastor John Martinson with Carol Lockhart serving as organist, and Dan Murphy serving as vocalist. Pallbearers will be Trent Klemetson, Travis Klemetson, Patrick Murphy, Darin Sather, Aaron Peterson and Christopher Peterson. Honorary pallbearers will be all of her family and friends.

Interment will be in Keene Lutheran Cemetery, rural Ulen.
