Muriel R. Rasmusson, 89, Ada, MN, died Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at Benedictine Care Community, Ada, MN.
Muriel Ruth Ness, daughter of Charles "Mel" and Ruth (Hviding) Ness, was born July 17, 1928, in Hendrum Minnesota. She was born in the Hendrum Hotel, which was owned by her grandparents Simon and Johanna Hviding. She was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hendrum. In 1936 she moved with her parents to Ada to operate the Blackhawk Café. She was confirmed at First Lutheran Church, Ada, Minnesota.
She attended school in Ada and graduated in 1946. Muriel furthered her education by attending Fargo Business College the following year. In 1947 she returned to Ada and worked as a bookkeeper at the Creamery, Nash and Nelson Plumbing and Heating and Nelson and Rasmusson Plumbing and Heating. She was known mostly however for her work as the Ada Elementary School secretary from 1972-1993.
On August 12, 1955, Muriel married Roy Rasmusson at First Lutheran Church. Muriel and Roy were blessed with two children, Scott and Julie.
Muriel is survived by son, Scott (Kristy) Rasmusson; Granite Falls, MN; daughter Julie (John) Hanson; Baldwin, WI, her grandchildren, Becky (Brad) Snortum, Jessie (Jon) Bruns, Melissa Rasmusson, Jennesa Rasmusson, Peter (Janny) Hanson, Rachel Hanson, Mara Hanson, and Abigail Hanson; great grandchildren, Weston and London Snortum, Isla, Havi, and Gus Bruns. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Roy.
Funeral: 11:00AM Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at Grace Lutheran Church, Ada, MN.
Visitation: Tuesday for one hour before the service at the church.
Burial: Ada City Cemetery, Ada, MN.
