Morraine Norden, age 94, of Twin Valley, MN, died Tuesday, September 15, 2015, in her home.
Morraine Ethelyn Lien, was welcomed into this world, along with her twin brother, Morrell, on March 17, 1921, to parents Emil and Marie (Qual) Lien. She was baptized and later confirmed her faith at Zion Lutheran Church. Morraine was raised in Twin Valley and graduated high school with the class of 1939. As a young woman, Morraine was employed at the Fairway Store in Twin Valley before moving to Springfield, IL, where she helped with the war effort working in an ammunition plant during World War II. Morraine then moved to the Minneapolis-St. Paul area and worked in the offices at Northwest Airlines. On June 25, 1949, Morraine was united in marriage to Dr. Lowell Norden. The ceremony was extra special as it was double wedding with her twin brother at Zion Lutheran Church. Dr. Lowell passed away on January 21, 2002, and Morraine returned home to Twin Valley shortly thereafter.
Morraine and Dr. Lowell loved to travel and saw many parts of the world together. They also had a cabin on Lower Cullen Lake, near Nisswa, MN, where Morraine enjoyed spending time. She always looked her best and often got dressed up to go out to events. Morraine liked to crochet and made countless afghans and dishcloths over the years. She was also a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church and a member of the Legion Auxiliary for over 70 years.
Morraine is survived by her brother, Morrell Lien of Twin Valley and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five brothers: Leonard, Arnold, Archie, Floyd, and Milton, and two sisters, Esther Sandvold and Agnes Mattsson.
