Mildred Saker, age 89, of Lake Park, Minnesota, formerly Twin Valley, Minnesota, died Wednesday, August 08, 2007, in Palliative Care Unit of MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, North Dakota.
Mildred Maxine Mesker was born September 12, 1917, to William and Nettie (Dunbar) Mesker in Twin Valley, Minnesota. She grew up on her family farm outside of Twin Valley. As a youngster, Mildred attended Home Lake School near Twin Valley. On August 12, 1938, Mildred was united in marriage to Kenneth Saker in Twin Valley. The couple made their home in Twin Valley where they raised their family. Kenny and Mildred owned and operated restaurants in the Twin Valley and Ulen areas for many years. Kenneth died in 1982. Mildred continued to live in Twin Valley until entering the Sunnyside Nursing Home in Lake Park, Minnesota.
Mildred enjoyed cooking and baking cookies for grandchildren, as well as fishing, doing handwork and gardening. Most of all, Mildred truly treasured the time she spent making memories with her family on Tulaby Lake.
Mildred is survived by three children: Coleen (David) Mickelson of Twin Valley, MN, Lyle (Carol) Saker of Coon Rapids, MN and Roger (Diana) of Rochert, MN; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Kenneth, three brothers, Lloyd, Ralph and Glen and a sister, Marjorie.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 13, 2007, at 10:00 AM in Zion Lutheran Church, Twin Valley. Officiating will be Pastor Chad Pederson with Danette Gwin serving as organist and Sara Mickelson serving as vocalist. Pallbearers will be all of her grandsons and honorary pallbearers will be all of her granddaughters. Visitation will be Sunday, August 12 from 5 PM to 7 PM with a Prayer Service at 7PM in the Anderson Funeral Home, Twin Valley. Visitation will also be one hour before services at the church on Monday.
Interment will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Twin Valley, MN
