Obituary

Mildred "Milly" Jacobson, age 96, of Twin Valley, MN died Thursday, November 19, 2009 at the Twin Valley Living Center.

Mildred Regina Sivertson , the daughter of Ben and Cora (Natwick) Sivertson, was born February 14, 1913, in Bemidji, MN. As a young child she moved with her family to Leonard, ND, where she was baptized, confirmed and attended school. Milly then began working as a hired girl, both cooking and cleaning for many area farmers. Later she continued this work in Detroit Lakes, MN, Fosston, MN, and Fargo, ND. Milly also worked for many years as nanny and caregiver for her dear friends, the Natwick family. On November 13, 1954, she was united in marriage to Norman Jacobson at the Gary Lutheran Church, making their home in Gary, MN. There she was employed as a cook at the school and also worked for a time at the American Legion in Gary. After, Norman's death in 1986, Milly continued to live independently until 2008, at which time she then made her home at the Twin Valley Living Center.

Milly was a dedicated mother, sister, and friend. She loved to sit and visit, especially with her sister, Doris. A day shopping with the girls was always a treat that she looked forward to. Milly loved to cook and bake, filling her special collection of cookie jars with goodies to share. She also enjoyed gardening, always having her flowers around her. She was a dedicated member of Gary Lutheran Church. Milly's faith was truly the foundation in her life: being active in the ladies aid, the alter guild, the quilters group, and many other activities within the church. She was also a proud member of the Gary Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by one son, Byron of Gary; one sister, Doris (Arnfred) Gronbeck of West Fargo, ND; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant son, one brother and one sister.

Funeral Services were held at 10:30 am on Monday, November 23, 2009 at Gary Lutheran Church in Gary. Visitation took place one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Monday.

Interment was at Gary Lutheran Cemetery.
