Obituary

Mildred Iverson, age 91, of Mahnomen, Minnesota, died Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at the Mahnomen Health Center Nursing Home in Mahnomen.

Mildred Theresa Gerda Urdahl was born on November 3, 1917, to Knute and Amanda (Thompson) Urdahl in their home in Flaxville, Montana. As a very young girl, she moved with her parents to their family home near Flom, Minnesota. She attended Sunny Hill School and later Twin Valley High School.

Mildred worked as a waitress until she met and married Gerald Iverson on November 11, 1944. The couple was united in marriage at the Wild Rice Lutheran Church near Flom. Mildred and her husband owned and operated their farm for 16 years. It was there that their five sons were born; David, Dennis, Douglas, James and Jeffrey. Mildred loved being a homemaker and taking care of her boys.

Gerald and Mildred lived in Twin Valley, Minnesota prior to making their home in Mahnomen. Before being admitted to the Mahnomen Health Center Nursing Home in 2004, she was active in her church, taking part in worship, ladies aid, quilting and Sunday school before her health prevented her from doing these things.

Mildred is survived by her husband, Gerald of Mahnomen, MN; five sons: David (Linda) of Detroit Lakes, MN, Dennis (JoAnn) of Perham, MN, Douglas of Fargo, ND, James (Bonnie) of Fergus Falls, MN and Jeffrey (Kathy) of Staples, MN; twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mildred is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 15, 2009, with Pastor John Lee officiating.
