Mildred Burtson, age 69, of Twin Valley, Minnesota died Thursday April 9, 2009 at the Twin Valley Living Center.
Mildred Yvonne Burtson, daughter of Abraham and Geneva (Friet) Burtson, was born on April 13, 1939, in Ada, MN. She attended a one room school house in Home Lake Township through the first grade and continued her education in Twin Valley. After school, she lived with her parents on a farm east of Twin Valley until they moved into town. Following her parents passing, Mildred continued to make that her home for ten years. She then moved to the Lincoln Terrace Apartments for her remaining years until recently moving into the Twin Valley Living Center.
Mildred was a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Twin Valley. Family was so very important to Mildred. During her young adult years, she had a special bond with her nephew, Richie, and greatly enjoyed their time together. She was always excited to hear any news about Aldean and Judy. She truly appreciated all that they did for her over the years and the good time they had together. For the last three years, Mildred has enjoyed the Cousin Reunion at Aldean's Cabin. This was an event she looked forward to all year long. She took great pleasure in simply sitting around the campfire, occasionally adding in a piece of wood, and catching up with family news. Mildred also treasured spending special occasions at Curt and Candy's Home. She loved her desserts; especially sharing pie with Bernice. Mildred also liked embroidering; putting puzzles together, playing cards, and visiting at the Valley Pines. She will tenderly be remembered often saying "Oh You!!" Mildred will be missed by all of her friends and relatives.
Mildred is survived by her brother, Aldean Burtson and his significant other, Judy Tiber, both of Brooklyn Center, MN. She is also survived by one aunt, Opal Forsell, and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Abe and Geneva; her nephew, Richie; and an infant brother.
Funeral service was held Saturday April 11, 1:00pm in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Twin Valley, MN, with Pastor Robert Behling officiating. Alden Anderson was the organist and special music will be provided by Celeste Forsell-Christensen, Candy Robertson, and Jerry Christensen. Serving as pallbearers will be Dennis Forsell, Derek Forsell, Curt Robertson, Michael Pederson, Ronald Christensen, and Jerry Christensen. Hazel Seykora, Manerva Ford, and Judy Tiber will be honorary bearers, along with all of the nursing staff at the Twin Valley Living Center and her friends and caregivers at the Lincoln Terrace Apartments.
