Milan Horn, age 85, of Twin Valley, MN, died on Friday July 24, 2026, at HIA Heather's House in Fargo, ND.

Milan Henning Horn was born on January 3, 1941, in Rindal, MN, to Alfred and Mabel (Stene) Horn. As the oldest of six children, he attended a small country school in Fossum Township before leaving school to help on the family farm.

On August 19, 1961, Milan was united in marriage to Florene Skuza. Together they made their first home in Ada, MN, and later Grandin, ND, and they were blessed with four children: Mark, Kevin, Rodney, and Tracy. In 1973, the family returned to Twin Valley, where they owned and operated Horn's Grocery for many years.

After selling the grocery store, Milan began working for the local Co-op and fertilizer plant, spraying chemicals for area farmers and later transferred to the Co-op service station in Twin Valley, faithfully working for more than 20 years. During those years, he was also a devoted caregiver to Florene following her stroke. Even after his official retirement, Milan wasn't one to sit still. He spent several more years helping Habedank Farms during harvest and hauling sugar beets for Brandt Farms.

Milan had a true love for gardening, filling his yard with beautiful flower beds and thriving vegetable gardens. He took great pride in sharing the harvest, and he and his family spent countless hours canning vegetables to enjoy throughout the year. He also treasured his John Deere tractor.

A dedicated member of the Twin Valley Lions Club and Wild Rice Lutheran Church, Milan was a familiar and welcoming presence in the community. Affectionately known as "Smilin' Milan," he was always ready with a friendly conversation, whether visiting with area farmers or enjoying a cup of coffee at the Co-op. His kind heart, positive outlook, and ever-present smile were a source of encouragement to many and will be remembered most by the family and friends who loved him.

He is survived by his children: Mark Horn of Crookston, MN, Kevin (Terri) Horn of Moorhead, MN, Rodney Horn of Hawley, MN, and Tracy (David) Nordskog of Daytona Beach, FL; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; siblings: Kermit Horn, Fern (Leo) Bauer, Linda (Jerry) Nelson, and Eldon (Brenda) Horn; and many nieces and nephews.

Milan was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Florene; and sister, Arlene (Fred) Sauck.
