Obituary

Micky "Mick" Denenny, age 50, of Ulen, MN, died Wednesday, July 2, 2014, in Sanford Palliative Care, Fargo.

Micky Ray Syverson was born November 29, 1963, the son of Raymond and JoAnn (Schultz) Syverson in Sioux Falls, SD. In his younger years, he moved with his family to the Ulen-Hitterdal community where he attended school. As a young man, Mick worked in the construction industry as a roofer for Gullard Construction until he was injured on the job in the late 1990's. On December 11, 1989, Mick was united in marriage to Lisa Morley in Moorhead, MN. To this union, three children were born: Mickensy, Jeff and Shawn. He was employed by American Crystal as a foreman at the beet piler for the past several years. In October of 2013, Mick was diagnosed with cancer and had been in declining health since.

Mick was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where he confirmed his Lutheran faith. His favorite pastimes included playing guitar and riding motorcycle. Mick enjoyed spending time with his family and truly treasured the time he spent with his two granddaughters.

Mick is survived by his wife, Lisa of Ulen; a daughter, Mickensy Denenny of Ulen; two sons, Jeff of Ulen and Shawn of Felton, MN; a foster son, Brian Smith Jr., of Fargo, ND; two granddaughters, Alyvia and Brynley; his mother, JoAnn (Verle) Rinke of Moorhead, MN; a sister, Renae (Jeff) Olson of Hitterdal, MN; mother-in-law, Janice Morley of Mahnomen, MN; brothers-in-law, John Smith of Callaway, MN, Brian Smith, Sr. and Mike Morley, both of Mahnomen: sister-in-law, Cheri Smith of Ulen, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his fathers, Ray Syverson and Vernon Denenny; his grandparents, John and Ordella Schultz; father-in-law, Myles Morley; sister-in-law, Lori Morley and a nephew, Josh Morley.

Funeral Services were held Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at 10:00 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Ulen. Officiating was Pastor Hope Deutscher with special music provided by Carol Lockhart and Susan Green. Pallbearers were Kelly Schultz, Brad Schultz, Jeff Olson, John Smith, Danny Stevens and Rick Lundberg. Honorary pallbearers was his granddaughters and all of his nieces and nephews.

Burial took place in North Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, Ulen.
