Obituary

Michael D. Lee, 69, Moorhead, MN, died Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at Pioneer Memorial Care Center, Erskine, MN.

Michael Douglas Lee was born December 20, 1947, in Ada, MN, the son of Kenneth and Laurel (Jackson) Lee. He grew up on the farm along with four brothers and two sisters. He helped with farm labor at home and at neighboring farms. He enjoyed family gatherings with cousins and other relatives. Mike graduated from Ada High School, and then attended college at Moorhead State University (MSUM) and graduated in 1970.

He was drafted into the United States Army in September of 1970 and served his country actively until his discharge in January of 1972, including time as an MP in Vietnam. He later served in the Army National Guard Unit of Fargo from 1980 until 1991 when he retired. For many years, Mike worked on campus at Moorhead State University until 1999.

Mike was an avid baseball fan and followed the Minnesota Twins for many seasons. He enjoyed treating himself to pizza, popcorn, and chocolate snacks. He enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, astronomy and his computer.

Mike had suffered a stroke a few years back and was cared for by his family and the staff at the Benedictine Care Community in Ada and the staff of Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine.

Michael is survived by his brothers and sisters: Lance Lee, West Fargo, ND; Bryant (Caroline) Lee, Sidney, MT; Karen (Roger) Skugrud, Winona, MN; Warren (Sharon) Lee, Dilworth, MN; Kevin (Janis) Lee and Candace (Steve) Osborn, both of Ada, one uncle, Sid (Emily) Jackson, of Ada, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, Ardis Lee.

Funeral: 2:00PM Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at Fredrikson-Ganje Funeral Home, Ada, MN.

Visitation: One hour before the service at the funeral home.

Burial: Ada Municipal Cemetery, Ada, MN.
