Michael
Krebsbach
d. Apr 2, 2014
Michael Krebsbach, age 70, of Mahnomen, MN, died on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at his home.
Michael Walter Krebsbach, the 8 th of 9 children, born to Arthur and Caroline (Klinkhammer) Krebsbach was born on March 16, 1944 in Mahnomen. He spent his younger years on the family farm east of Mahnomen. Michael was baptized and later confirmed at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Beaulieu, MN. As a youngster, Michael also often served mass at the church. In 1960, his father was injured in a farm accident which caused his death. Shortly thereafter, the family sold the farm and moved into Mahnomen. Following his graduation from High School in 1962, Michael was united in marriage to Claudette Darco and they were blessed with three children: Jeff, Michelle, and Michael. The couple moved to Colorado for a short time, returning to Minnesota in 1963. Michael went to work for the JC Penny's Department Store in Detroit Lakes and then transferred to Bemidji, MN where he became an assist store manager. In 1968 he transferred with the company to Colorado. After deciding to leave the store Michael began working construction. Michael also worked in the painting business with his older brother, Arthur. He met Renay Nicholas and they married in 1969. Joining the family were Renay's daughters, Robin and Jessica, and shortly thereafter they were blessed with Chrie'. After living in Denver for a period of time they decided to move back to Minnesota. They lived around Detroit Lakes, MN for a while and then moved back into Mahnomen. Michael and Renay worked in construction and also owned their own painting company until he retired. Renay passed away on December 21, 2013, and Michael continued to make his home in Mahnomen.
Michael loved the outdoors and spending time on the lake. He and Renay shared many wonderful years at the camper on North Twin, and loved to fish. They were always eager to join the party and liked to spend time with friends. Even with Michael's declining health he enjoyed a visit from family members or a chat on the phone with those he cared about.
Michael is survived by two sons, Jeff (Kim) Tiley and Michael (Angela) Tiley, both of Ft. Collins, CO; four daughters: Michelle "Shelly" (Pete) Chavez of Ft. Collins, CO, Robin (Dick) Jones of Steamboat, CO, Jessica (Paul) Woods of Wahpeton, ND, and Chrie' Krebsbach of Bemidji, MN; one sister, Carol Pouppirt of Littleton Co; one sister-in-law, Olive Krebsbach of Mahnomen; and his grandchildren: Brody, Anthony, Cassandra, Austin, Charlotte, Dylan, Jack, Billie Jean, Samuel, Isabella, Carter, and Riley.
Michael was preceded in death by his wife, Renay; his parents, Arthur and Caroline; three sisters, Corinne (Loren) Bruggeman, Delores (Milo) Wille, Lorraine (Marvin) Svobodny; four brothers, Cyril, Delmar, Arthur & John; and a granddaughter, Shelbe.
