Michael R. Anderson, age 49, of Hitterdal, MN, died Monday, October 28, 2019, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley at Sanford Palliative Care in Fargo, ND.

Michael Ray Anderson was born May 9, 1970, in Detroit Lakes, MN, the youngest of three children born to James and Darlene (McAlister) Anderson.  As a young child, he lived in Thief River Falls, MN, before moving to the Hitterdal area when he was 4 years old. Michael attending Ulen- Hitterdal public school, graduating with the class of 1988. Following high school, he worked with his dad at Anderson Cabinets, becoming a very talented cabinet maker. Michael was united in marriage to Laurie Jensen on June 8, 1996 at Walworth Baptist Church, rural Ulen, MN.  The couple made their home in Detroit Lakes, MN, for a few years before moving to the farm near Hitterdal in 2001. They were blessed with two children, Thomas and Alyssa.  In 2007, he began working for the United States Postal Service while continuing to do cabinet work on the side. Michael was diagnosed with cancer this past summer but continued working part time for the postal service until, due to health reasons, it became too much for him. Through it all, his family was the light of his life and he cherished ever moment spent with them.

Michael was a fun-loving guy with a great sense of humor. He loved to put a smile on the face of anyone he met, especially his co-workers.  He had an answer for everything and would tell it like it is.  He enjoyed going to the movies, watching Star Trek Episodes, 4-wheeling, fishing, and attending MN Steam Threshers Reunion in Rollag, MN, annually.  Michael was a devoted husband and father and his family was his top priority.  He was always looking out for their best interest, even when that meant helping Tommy with his lawn tractor and teaching Alyssa to drive.  He will be missed dearly by all.

Michael is survived by his wife, Laurie of Hitterdal; children, Thomas and Alyssa both also of Hitterdal; father, James "Jim" Anderson of Lake Park, MN; sister, Sharon Wisk of Vergas, MN; brother, Keith (Angie) Anderson of Ulen; many niece, nephews; and extended family on Laurie's side.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Darlene; and his grandparents.

Funeral Services will be held at 4:30 pm on Saturday, November 2, 2019, at Walworth Baptist Church, rural Ulen, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00pm until 7:00pm, with a Prayer Service beginning at 6:30pm, at the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Twin Valley, MN, on Friday, November 1, 2019.  Visitation will also be one hour before the funeral at the church on Saturday.
