Obituary

Melvin Harold Roesler, 83, of International Falls, MN , died June 3, 2018, at Fair Meadow Nursing Home in Fertile, MN.

Melvin was born on March 26, 1935 in Napoleon, ND to Samuel and Katie Roesler.  He grew up on a farm 13 miles northeast of Napoleon where he attended country school grades 1 through 8, then going on to high school.  After that he attended a trade school in Fargo, ND learning to be a mechanic.  For several years he worked at several gas stations in Jamestown, ND.  He loved working on cars, trucks, tractors or anything mechanical that needed repairing.  He truly was a great mechanic!  He also loved tinkering with clocks, wristwatches, stereos and radios, always wanting to know how things worked or what made them tick.  Another thing he liked to do was make rings out of coins: dimes, pennies, nickels and quarters, whatever size was needed.

He spent several years as a truck driver, including helping to build roads in Medora, ND.  He also worked for several farmers around the Jamestown area.

On October 5, 1968 he married Janet Borden of International Falls, MN, where they made their home for the next 40+ years.  While there Melvin was employed by Boise Cascade, where he worked in the siding department until his retirement.

His hobbies were target practicing, hunting and trapping.  He spent many hours during the winter months checking traps around the frozen lakes.

Melvin was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in International Falls.

Melvin leaves behind two sisters; Helen Henning of Jamestown, ND and Ruby S. (Arloe) Erickson of Grand Forks, ND, one step-brother Marlow (Janice) Krein of Mesa, AZ, one step-sister; Luann Eagen of Seattle, WA, three neices; June Gore of Las Vegas, NV, Pam (Trace) Hammargren of Grand Forks, ND, Brenda (Keith) Lauer of Bismarck, ND, one nephew; Troy (Leanne) Erickson of Grand Forks, ND, several cousins, one aunt and one uncle.
