Obituary

Mayneth Widme, age 95, of Twin Valley, Minnesota, died Wednesday, October 27, 2010, in Sanford Health Center, Fargo, North Dakota.

Mayneth Palmer Widme was born May 17th, 1915, the son of Joseph and Clara (Olson) Widme at Twin Valley. He was baptized and confirmed his faith at Wild Rice Lutheran Church near Twin Valley as well as attending country school near there.

On June 10th, 1939, Mayneth was united in marriage to Leola Erickson at the Wild Rice Parsonage. In their early years, the couple moved to the Carolina's with their good friends, Roy and Alice Forsell where they were both employed. They later moved to Chicago, spending several years there while Mayneth worked as a shipping and receiving clerk. The couple returned to the Twin Valley area, purchasing the Fossum Store from his uncle, Albert Olson which he operated from 1945 to 1950. He also built a home there which they lived during that time. Mayneth then purchased the Standard Oil Station in Twin Valley which he operated for several years. Mayneth was also a carpenter, working mostly on construction in the Fargo/Moorhead area. During this time Mayneth and Leola continued to live in Twin Valley where he built their home.

Mayneth and Leola traveled extensively, visiting every state in the United States, except Hawaii. During their retirement, they both enjoyed many hobbies. Mayneth enjoyed creating small items that were somehow useful out of scraps of wood. Puzzles that made you think were a specialty of his. Mayneth became a resident of the Twin Valley Living Center in April of 2004, where he continued to make his home until the time of his death.

Mayneth is survived by his wife of 71 years, Leola of Twin Valley, MN; a brother Aldus (JoAnne) Widme of Twin Valley, MN; a sister Jocelyn Nickelson of Scotts Bluff, NE; sisters-in-law, Luverne (Calman) Bredman of Ada, MN and Nina Waller of Twin Valley, MN and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 30th, 2010 at 10:30 AM in the Twin Valley Living Center Chapel with a second funeral being held at 2:00 PM in Zion Lutheran Church, Twin Valley. Visitation will be one hour before services at the church on Saturday.
