Obituary

Maynard Freyholtz, age 71, of Fosston, Minnesota, died Sunday, September 26, 2010 at First Care Medical Services in Fosston.

Maynard Martin Freyholtz, the son of Raymond and Ethel (Bleick), was born on October 5, 1938 in Fairfax, Minnesota. As a youngster, he attended school in Fairfax and helped his family on the farm. Maynard later moved to Fosston, where he worked for area farmers. In 1961, he entered the United States Army. After his honorable discharge, Maynard returned to the Fosston area. Over the next several years, Maynard worked at Glacier National Park. He also spent some time with his brother, Marlin, working at a Diesel Repair Shop in Wrangell, Alaska. He returned home to Fosston and worked for Herman Dittmer farms while also farming with his brother, Ronnie, on the family farm. In the mid-1980's, Maynard purchased a farm and has operated it independently since.

Maynard truly loved to farm and to simply be outdoors. He spent many hours hunting, fishing, and trapping. Maynard had a knack for fixing things, especially motors. He enjoyed collecting things and cherished his "treasures."

Maynard is survived by three brothers: Marlin (Tracey) of Shetek, WI, Ronald of Red Lake Falls, MN, Eugene (Ruth) of Fosston; two sisters, Lila (Samuel) Lang of Danube, MN, and Darlene (Arthur) Ferguson of Winger, MN; ten nieces: Charlotte, Terri, Lori, Therese, Ann Marie, Mary, Donna, Loree, Denise, and Cheryl; thirteen nephews: Marlin Jr., John, David, Michael, Riley, Joseph, Peter, Dale, Lynn, Troy, Shane, Chuck and Russell; as well as many great nieces and nephews; and all those he called "friend." He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bobby and Ervin.

A graveside service was held at 11 am on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery in Mahnomen, MN. The American Legion Chaplain Robert Horack was the officiant. The Mahnomen American Legion Isaacson-Bjorge Post #31 provided the military honors.
