Maynard "Fritz" Cole, age 79, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2019, at Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes, MN.

Fritz was born to Maynard and Ellen (Nelson) Cole Sr., on February 7, 1940, in Roseau County, MN. As a young man, Fritz enjoyed playing both hockey and football in high school. Right after graduation, in 1958, he entered the United States Army. After three years in the service, he was honorably discharged on May 22, 1961. After he was discharged, Fritz delivered snowmobiles to Alaska for Polaris before he went to work for General Motors. He drove transport for many accident free years. Fritz married Leona Nelson, in Eureka Springs, AR, on August 14, 1996. In his off time, he really enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time at the lake and especially time with his grandchildren. He always had a special place in his heart for his great-granddaughter, Sophie.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Leona; his children: Danny (Holly) Cole, Travis Terwilliger and Tammy (Robert) Hooker; his stepchildren, Scott (Ione) Nelson, Holly (Bill) Adams and Heidi Nelson (Roger Stumbo); many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his siblings: Shirley Fritzinger, Cyril Nelson, Harvey Cole, Belmer Cole and Arlette Butler;  and many nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his parents, Maynard and Ellen.

Memorial Service with full military honors will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Anderson Family Funeral Home, Twin Valley, MN.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made to Hospice of the Red River Valley or the Ulen Rescue Squad.
