Obituary

Maxine Lundberg, age 87, of Moorhead, Minnesota formerly Ulen, Minnesota died Tuesday, February 08, 2011, in Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, North Dakota.

Maxine Irene Lundberg was born July 14, 1923, the daughter of Charles and Dora (Moore) Hollenbeck in Ulen, Minnesota where she attended school and graduated from Ulen High School. As a young woman, Maxine went to the Twin Cities where she was employed by Northwest Airlines during World War II. On November 2nd, 1946, Maxine was united in marriage to Wilfred Lundberg at Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. The couple made their home in West Fargo, North Dakota for a few years before moving to Frazee, Minnesota where they lived on a farm for the next eight years. Their next move took them to Eagle Lake near Frazee, Minnesota where they spent 12 years. For the following four years they lived in Detroit Lakes before relocating to the Ulen-Hitterdal area in 1975. In 1976 Wilfred and Maxine moved into Ulen. Wilfred died in 1984 and Maxine continued to make Ulen her home where she was employed at the Ulen Community Center as well as the Hitterdal Community Center for several years. She then was employed at the Ulen School until 1997. At that time Maxine moved to Moorhead where she lived until the time of her death.

Maxine was a member of the Women's Auxiliary and did a lot of volunteer work after her retirement. Her favorite past times included playing cards, playing bingo, reading, watching television and visiting with family and friends.

Maxine is survived by two sons, Rick Lundberg of Ulen, MN and Mike Lundberg of Moorhead, MN and a daughter, Ginny (Tom) Leverson of Fargo, ND; four grandchildren, Jennifer Leverson (Carter Evenson) of Fargo, ND, Tim Leverson of Minneapolis, MN, Darrin Register of Valley City, ND and Erika (Shane) Serquina of Erie, ND and two great-grandchildren, Lili Serquina and Alexandra Leverson.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one infant child, three brothers and a daughter-in-law.

Funeral Services were Saturday, February 12th at 3:00 PM in Salem Lutheran Church, Hitterdal, Minnesota. Visitation was Friday, February 11th from 5-7 PM with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM at Salem Lutheran Church in Hitterdal. Visitation was also one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Officiating was Pastor Dane Skilbred with Penny Herzog serving as organist. Pallbearers were Darrin Register, Tim Leverson, Carter Evenson, Robert Bakke, Wayne Bakke and Danny Busby.

Interment was in North Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, Ulen, Minnesota.
