Maxine D. Gronvold, 82, Halstad, MN, died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, at her residence after a short battle with lung cancer surrounded by her family.

Maxine Doris (Peterson) Gronvold was born on Feb. 14, 1931, in Hadler, MN, the daughter of George and Emily (Norman) Peterson. She attended Simonson grade school, followed by Heiberg grade school and Twin Valley (MN) High School. On Feb. 19, 1949, she was united in marriage to Vernon Gronvold of Ada, MN. They made their home in Sabin, MN from 1950 to 1963, before moving to Halstad. They had 6 children.

Maxine worked for Halstad Lutheran Memorial Nursing Home from 1977 as a Nurse Aide and Ward Clerk until retiring in 1996.

Maxine is survived by her son, Douglas Gronvold of Halstad, her daughters Dana Gronvold, Halstad, Teresa (Bill) Welle, Oriska, ND, and Lisa Gronvold, Halstad (and Lisa's daughter, Rachel) her brother Vernon (Ann) Peterson of Seattle, WA, her sister Hyacinth Cullen, of Lancaster, CA, 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and many other family and friends who loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons Erling and John Gronvold, sisters, Hazel Knutson, Bebe Waale, Mae Peterson, LaVonne Gunderson, Georgia Rhodes, and brother, Allen Peterson, and 2 great-grandchildren.

Memorial Service: 2PM Thursday, October 24, 2013, at Fredrikson Valley Funeral Home, Halstad, MN.

Visitation: One hour before the service at the funeral home.

Burial: Halstad North Cemetery, Halstad, MN.
