Matthew Charles Wang, 48, Fertile, MN, died Wednesday, April 23, 2014, in his home. He was born on March 17, 1966, to Stanley and Barbara (Riley) Wang in Mahnomen, MN. He grew up in Fertile and attended Fertile-Beltrami School District, graduating 1984.

Matt applied for his first job at the age of 5, but actually became employed as a young teen. He worked various jobs that included: Christian Motors, the Chicken Ranch, Melvin Wang Truck Shop, Erickson Service, Roger's Plumbing and Heating, Winger, MN. From 1998-2001, Matt was on the road with a cell tower crew, working in North Carolina, Iowa and Illinois. After returning to Fertile, he worked as an independent contractor in plumbing and heating.

Matt was an avid NASCAR Racing fan and enjoyed NBA basketball. He enjoyed woodworking projects, working on cars, reading (especially history), and yard work. Matt always had a pet cat to pamper. Riding his three-wheeler around town and in the country, as well as discovering old burial sites in the area, kept Matt busy. He had a generous and caring heart toward anyone he met. Living in Fertile, amongst family and friends, was comfort to Matt.

Matt is survived by his mother, Barbara, Fertile, MN; one sister, Lisa Liden and one brother, Stanton (Jessica) Wang, both of Fertile, MN; several nieces and nephews: Cati, Sarah and Donny Liden, Brittany and Christopher Wang, and Keyton and Kade Wang; aunts, and uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father, Stanley in 2006, a brother, Michael and sister-in-law, Carol, in 1997.

Funeral Services will be 10:30, Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Concordia Lutheran Church, Fertile, MN.

Visitation will be Tuesday April 29 ^th from 5:00-7:00pm with a Prayer Service at 6:30pm at the Erikson-Vik Funeral Home, Fertile, MN.
