Obituary

Matthew Tibbetts, age 32, of Naytahwaush, MN, died on Monday, March 21, 2022, at his home.

Matthew Lee Tibbetts, known to family as "Wild Man" was born April 5, 1989, in Detroit Lakes, MN, the son of Bernard "Bimbo" and Bette (Bush) Tibbetts.  He grew up in Naytahwaush where he attended elementary school.  Matt then graduated from Mahnomen High School with the Class of 2007.  Following graduation, he entered the workforce as a seasonal worker in the Maintenance Department for the White Earth Tribe.  Together will Alicia Lamb, he was blessed with two children, Bella and Brian and many great memories.  In the years to follow, Matthew worked a variety of jobs including at the Shooting Star Casino in Security and the Players Club, then he worked for several years as a meat cutter at Bruggeman's SuperValu and most recently at the Dollar General, only leaving to focus on his own health.

Whether it was hunting, fishing, 4-wheeler rides in the woods or just having bon fires in the yard with family, Matt truly enjoyed the great outdoors and everything it had to offer.  Time spent with family was a great treasure and he loved his kids more than anything.  They could often be found cooking, playing X-box or Matt's favorite, lighting fireworks.  Matt also had a love for animals especially his dog and Bella's four cats.  He had a quick wit about him and a great sense of humor, always at the ready with a joke.  Matt was also very loving, caring and ready to help anyone in need.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Matt is survived by his pride and joy, his children, Bella and Brian; his parents, Bimbo and Bette Tibbetts; one brother, Andrew; all of Naytahwaush; a special cousin who was more like a sister, Margaret Bush and numerous, aunts, uncles, friends and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Burnham and Marian Tibbetts; grandma, Delores Bush and several extended family members.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 28, 2022, at the Naytahwaush Sports Complex, Naytahwaush, MN, with a Prayer Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue until the time of the Funeral at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at the Sports Complex. Burial will be in Free Gospel Alliance Cemetery, Naytahwaush, in the spring.
