She graduated high school from Halstad High School and went on to attend Moorhead Sate College. On November 12, 1935, Mathilde married the love of her life Elvin Blomseth at Fargo, ND and the couple made their home on a farm near Halstad. In 1949, they moved to a farm east of Twin Valley, which they owned and operated until the fall of 1971.
