Mary Eileen Tommervik, 76, of Bejou, MN, died Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Rochester, MN, surrounded by her children.

Eileen was born May 16, 1947, in Fosston, MN, to John Haldor and Grace Evelyn (Johnson) Hegg. She grew up in McIntosh, MN, graduated from McIntosh High School in 1965, and studied nursing at Thief River Falls A.V.T.I.

On October 10, 1970, Eileen was united in marriage to Wendell "Rod" Tommervik in McIntosh, MN. After making their home in McIntosh for a short time, they moved to Bejou. Eileen worked as a licensed practical nurse in Fosston before being a full-time homemaker. Later she worked at the United States Post Office in Bejou, in Dr. Norbert Diekman's dental office in Mahnomen, and in the University of Minnesota Extension Farmer-Lender Mediation coordination office near Bejou.

After becoming a widow in 2006, Eileen retired in 2009 and enjoyed summers at Maple Lake with good friends and family. She spent a number of winters in Arizona with her special companion, Duane Erickson, competing in tennis and making many treasured friends at Silveridge RV Park.

Eileen is survived by her children, Jon (Suzanne) Tommervik of Wayzata, MN; Kris (Rick) Blackburn of Stacy, MN; Sara Friesen (Jerry Thom) of Lengby, MN; and Brian Tommervik of Fargo, ND; beloved grandchildren Mara (Brian) Larson-Sargent, Aryanna Wiggins-Tommervik, Kaitlyn Blackburn, Isaac Friesen, Sienna Friesen, and Tyler Blackburn and great-grandchildren NoraJune Larson and Legend Sargent; brothers Paul Hegg of Spokane Valley, WA, and Tom (Eileen) Hegg, of McIntosh, MN; sister-in-law Darlene (Tim) Bates of Stephen, MN; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, May 6, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Bejou, MN.  A Time of Gathering will take place at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Mahnomen on Sunday, May 5, 2024, from 3:00 - 5:00 pm, with a Prayer Service beginning at 4:30 pm, and will continue one hour prior to the Memorial Service at the church. Inurnment will take place at the Bejou Cemetery.
