Mary Moore's Obituary
Mary Moore, age 67 of Waubun, MN, died at Sanford Health Center in Fargo, North Dakota on January 16, 2013 after a long battle with COPD.
Mary Margaret Andring was born on the family farm in rural Gary, MN, the daughter of Raymond and Gertrude (Martin) Andring on February 25, 1945. She attended grade school at St. Michael's Catholic School, followed by Mahnomen High School, graduating with the class of 1963.
On July 6, 1963 Mary was united in marriage to Eugene Moore at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Mahnomen. Their first few years as a married couple were spent in St. Paul, MN, Moose Lake, MN, and rural Waubun, before moving into Waubun in 1968 to make their home. While living in St. Paul, Mary worked at Fieldschlick Department Store, then later at Ben Franklin in Mahnomen from 1980 until she retired in 1997.
Whether it was going for coffee at the Red Apple Café or going down to Detroit Lakes for her pulmonary therapy, Mary liked to visit and socialize with those around her. She was a lifelong seamstress, taking care of the simple mending and patching to the more complex designs of sewing traditional wedding gowns. In addition to her passion for sewing, Mary also liked to crochet, cross stitch and collect carnival glass. She was always on the lookout for different Lady Slipper "stuff" to add to her growing collection.
Mary is survived by her husband of 49 years, Gene, Waubun; a son, Dale (Dawn) Moore, Detroit Lakes, MN; a daughter, Colleen (Mark) Weigel, Centerville, MN; four grandchildren: Heidi Weigel (Fiancé, Dan Neumann), Trevor Weigel, Amanda Moore and Justin Moore; two brothers, Len (Joanne) Andring, Moorhead, MN, and Richard "Dick" (Darlene) Andring, Gary, MN; three sisters: Lucille Gish, Mahnomen, Claire Cook, White Bear Lake, MN, and Beverly (Virg) Amsden, St. Paul, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers: Arnie, Vernon, Bill and David; and one sister, Helen Lindberg.
Memorial Service were held at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at St. Ann's Church in Waubun, MN.
Time of Gathering was held from 5:00-7:00 pm on Friday, January 18, 2013 at Anderson~Mattson Funeral Home in Mahnomen.
