Mary Ann M. Miller, age 73 of Mahnomen, MN, died Thursday, March 26, 2009 in her home.
Mary Ann Magdeline Andring was born August 28, 1935 in Mahnomen, MN, to Ernest and Irene (Kresbach) Andring. She grew up in the Mahnomen area where she attended school. Following high school, Mary Ann was united in marriage to Jacob L. "Jack" Miller at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Mahnomen. Jack entered the United States Army and was stationed in Ft. Sill, OK, for a couple years. After his discharge, they made their home on the farm east of Mahnomen and then moved into Mahnomen. While Jack attended Moorhead State College, the couple made their home in Moorhead, MN, where Mary Ann worked as a waitress at the FM Motel. Jack and Mary Ann settled in Mahnomen where they raised their family.
Over the years, Mary Ann devoted many hours to children with special needs. She worked at the Mahnomen County DAC and volunteered her time to transport children with special needs to and from Detroit Lakes, MN. Second to her family, Mary Ann had a love for playing cards. Any game, bridge, whist, pinochle, you name it she played it. Her passion for cards was so great, she had been known to force her kids and grandkids to play. Mary Ann also enjoyed a good party and get together. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and the Bejou VFW Auxiliary.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jack Miller of Mahnomen; one son, Jack also of Mahnomen; two daughters, Cindy (Bob) Majeski of Hastings, MN, and Kim (Butch) Thielen of Moorhead, MN; four grandchildren: Jacob, John and Joseph Majeski and Nicolas Thielen; one great-granddaughter, Meghan Majeski; two brothers, Thomas Andring of St. Paul, MN, and Steve (Cindy) Andring of Mahnomen; two sisters, Doris (Ardelle) Athmann of St. Louis Park, MN, and Karen Bryan of Chisholm, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Clarence and Jim.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, March 30, 2009 at 2 pm at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Mahnomen, MN, with Father Rick Lambert presiding. Special music was provided by Joan Bartz and Julie Doerfler, accompanied by Monica Winter. Serving as pallbearers were Jacob Majeski, John Majeski, Joseph Majeski, Nicolas Thielen, Doug Bryan and Brad Francis. Honorary bearers included Renay & Mike Kresbach, Lori Francis, Sandy & Mark Amberg and Rhonda & Rick Walz. Visitation was held Sunday, March 29th from 3-5 pm with a prayer service at 4:30 pm at the Anderson~Mattson Funeral Home, Mahnomen. Burial was in the St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery, Mahnomen.
