Mary Ann Leota Hetland, 88, of Halstad, Minnesota died Saturday, January 30, 2016 at the Halstad Living Center.
Mary Ann was born May 27, 1927, at home, on a farm near Nielsville, Minnesota. She was one of eight children born to Tenny and Grettie Tendeland. She attended Climax High School. Mary Ann was united in marriage to Warner Vincent Hetland of Halstad, Minnesota, on December 11, 1944. They moved to the home farm near Halstad where they lived until moving into Halstad in 1980. In addition to helping Warner farm, she was active in the Augustana Lutheran Church and for the Halstad Living Center for over twenty years. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking, playing cards, keeping her house immaculately clean, and was an avid Minnesota Twins fan.
Mary Ann and Warner were happily married for 62 years, until Warner's death in 2007.
Mary Ann is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sheryl and David Chambers, of La Palma, California, one granddaughter, Heidi Chambers, of Hollywood, California, and sisters, Ruth Moen of Hawley, Minnesota, and Claire May Olsen of Dorchester, Wisconsin, and brother Selmer (Pat) Tendeland of Fargo, North Dakota. She was preceded in death by her parents, one infant daughter, Sheila, one sister, Joyce, and three brothers, Ollin, Terris, and Robert.
Funeral: 11:00AM Saturday February 6, 2016, at Fredrikson-Ganje Funeral Home, Halstad, MN.
Visitation: 5:00PM -7:00PM Friday with a 6:30PM prayer service at the funeral home.
Burial: Augustana Lutheran Cemetery, rural Halstad, MN.
