Albertson
Nov 19, 1929 — May 8, 2020
Flom
Mary A. Albertson, age 90, of Flom, MN, died Friday, May 8, 2020, at the Halstad Living Center under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Mary Ann Pederson was born November 19, 1929, in Kinbrae, MN, the daughter of Johnny and Elizabeth (Brigger) Pederson. In the summer of 1936, she was baptized in the Presbyterian Church at Fulda, MN, and then confirmed in 1944. Mary graduated from Fulda High School in 1948. She furthered her education at Jr. College in Worthington, MN. Following her college graduation, Mary worked at the Worthington Globe Newspaper before going to work at the Worthington Creamery as a switchboard telephone operator. On April 6, 1952, Mary was confirmed at Aspelund Lutheran Church, and later celebrated her marriage to Eugene Albertson on July 21, 1952. While Eugene served in the US Marine Corps, the couple lived in California. Following his honorable discharge, they returned to the Ulen, MN, area, then to Flom before settling on the Albertson home place in 1968.
Eugene died in January of 1990 and Mary remained in their home for several years until she moved to the Twin Valley Nursing Home. The past couple years she has made her home at the Halstad Living Center.
Mary and Eugene were faithful members of Aspelund Lutheran Church where Mary enjoyed being a member of the circle. She also liked to read, put puzzles together and go on small trips with family. One of her fondest memories was going with Debbie to Fulda and Worthington for a class reunion. She truly enjoyed visiting the places where she grew up and attended school. Also, watching the sailboats race at Worthington was a great memory for Mary.
Mary is survived by her children, Deborah (Floyd) Burnside of Hawley, MN, and Jerald (Saundra) Albertson of Flom; grandson, Tobias (Kelly) Burnside and great-grandchildren, Liberty and William Burnside, all of Barnesville, MN; cousins, and nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Lucas Burnside; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bernice (Jack) Jackson, Beatrice (Del) Klanderud and infant, Elizabeth and brother and sister-in-law, Sanford (Donna) Albertson.
Due to concerns surrounding Covid-19 and restricted gathering sizes, a private Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, May 12, 2020, at Aspelund Lutheran Cemetery, Flom. A video recording of the service will be available on our website, shortly following the committal ceremony.
