Obituary

Marvin Thompson, age 90, Twin Valley, MN died Saturday, July 29, 2006 at Bridges Medical Center in Ada, MN.

Marvin R. Thompson, the son of Henry and Clara (Hagen) Thompson, was born May 13, 1916 on the family farm east of Twin Valley, MN where he grew up and attended country school. As a young man he worked on the farm with his father. Marvin was united in marriage to Mabel Norby, June 29, 1937 at Zion Lutheran Church in Twin Valley. They lived in Grand Forks, ND where he was employed as a cook. During World War II they moved to Superior, WI where Marvin worked in the shipyards. After the war was over they returned to the Twin Valley area and bought the family farm. Together they farmed until the mid 1960`s when he began his career as a carpenter. He continued to working as a carpenter until his retirement. Mabel died on December 12, 2001. Marvin moved into the Valley Pines Apartments in Twin Valley a year and a half ago.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Twin Valley. Marvin loved music. He enjoyed singing and playing the guitar as well as dancing, playing cards and traveling.

His son, Jerry (Debbie), Fargo, ND, his daughter, Marian (David) Zellers, Thorntown, IN, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren survive him. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Mabel, two brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services was held on Wednesday, August 2, 2006 at 10:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Twin Valley. Visitation was held one hour before services in the church.

Interment took place at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Twin Valley.
