Marvin "Ben" Syverson, age 74, of Twin Valley, MN, passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, surrounded by his family, at the Viking Manor Nursing Home, Ulen, MN.

Born on June 27, 1949, in Ada, MN, to proud parents Marvin "Bud" and Clarissa "Chris" (Halverson) Syverson, Ben grew up in Twin Valley and graduated from Twin Valley High School in 1967. Following graduation, he worked at his father's shop, East Side Motors, before enlisting in the United States Army in January of 1969. Ben proudly served a tour of duty in Korea until being honorably discharged in December of 1970. Upon returning home, he worked with his father at East Side Motors while pursuing business classes at Moorhead State College.

On August 25, 1973, Ben married the love of his life, Lizabeth "Liz" Voje, at Gary Lutheran Church in Gary, MN. Their union blessed them with three children. Ben and Liz eventually settled in Twin Valley where he worked as a rural mail carrier. At the same time, he established Syverson Insurance and the Oak Ridge Body Shop keeping him busy while raising his new family.  Upon retiring from the US Postal Service, Ben continued to stay active by helping friends and family. In 2020, he moved to Viking Manor, where he resided until his passing.

Ben found joy in the outdoors, engaging in activities such as ice fishing, hunting, and tending to his hobby farm. He was an avid gun collector and enjoyed having a good time hunting with his friends. Ben enjoyed videotaping with his new video camera and captured numerous special memories and many wild antics. He was a member of the Twin Valley Legion for many years. He loved decorating for every holiday, but Christmas was a cherished time of year at the Syverson household, and he passed that love down to his family. His home and yard were always adorned with extravagantly collected décor and lights from his sales shopping or garage sale finds along his mail route. Despite his quiet demeanor, he was known for his snappy comebacks and quick wit, always bringing laughter to his loved ones.

Ben is survived by his daughters, DeAnn Syverson of West Fargo, ND, and Nicole Boe of Twin Valley; grandchildren, Haley and Brady Boe; great-grandson, Raiden; siblings: Rodney (Deb) Syverson of Ada, MN, Cynthia Syverson of Minneapolis, MN, Dan (Janet) Syverson of Laporte, MN, and Mitch (Jolene) Syverson of Hawley, MN; aunts, Sylvia "Lutzi" Bueng and Shirley Saum; uncle, Noel Sletten; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Ben was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Chris; wife, Liz Syverson; son, Erik Syverson; brothers, Kevin and Kelly Syverson; and son-in-law, Jim Boe.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at 2:00pm, with a visitation beginning at 12:00pm, at Zion Lutheran Church, Twin Valley. The interment will be held in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Twin Valley.
