Marvin L. Lee, 92, Ada, MN, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at Benedictine Care Community in Ada.

Marvin LeRoy Lee was born on January 20, 1931, to Theodore and Olga (Kuvaas) Lee in Perley, MN. He was one of seven children, and the first in the family to speak English.  Marvin spoke only Norwegian until Kindergarten.

Marvin was introduced to his future bride, Marlys Echternach, through his sister Betty. They dated for eight months before Marvin left for Korea with the Army. Marvin and Marlys were married on September 5, 1954, in Wheaton, MN, one month after Marvin's return home. They lived in various communities before making Ada their home in 1967, where they raised their five children, Richard, Cindy, David, Kari and Kristie.

When Marvin returned home from overseas, he farmed with his father and other farmers in Perley. He then began carpentry work and enjoyed making and fixing things. He made many wooden treasures and proudly made toys for his grandchildren over the years. Marvin was active in church, helping with ushering serving on several committees over the years.  He was a member of the American Legion and was active with the Ada Veterans Honor Guard until he was 86 years old. He was active with 4-H and many community events. He enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, sharing much of his harvest with family and friends. Marvin had a sweet tooth and always had a bag of treats with him to share as well. Sunday polka and square dancing were also favorite pastimes.

Marvin will forever be remembered as a kind and gentle natured man, who had a smile for everyone. He was a Christ centered man, always ready to listen and put his family and friends first. He will be dearly missed.

Marvin is survived by his children, Richard (Beverly) Lee, Cando, ND; Cindy Gill, Moorhead, MN; David (JoAnn) Lee, Farmington, MN; Kari (Russel) Muscha, Casselton, ND; and Kristie (Nathan) Riepe, Ada, MN; siblings, Beverly Dietz, Shirley Larson, and Roger Lee; sister-in-law, Donna Lee; seven grandchildren; Laura (Ross) Haymaker, Eric Gill (Nicole Knutson), Julie Gill (Chad Selcer), Kira Lee, Douglas Lee, Jakob Lee (Kelly McKnight), and Ryan Muscha; and five great-grandchildren.

Marvin is preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Olga; wife, Marlys; and infant son; siblings, Sherman Lee and Betty Peterson; and one infant sister.

Funeral Service: 11:00 AM, Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Grace Lutheran Church, Ada, MN.

Visitation: One hour before the funeral at the church.

Interment with full military rites: Ada Municipal Cemetery, Ada, MN.
