Marlis J. Kappes, 89, Ada, MN, died on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at Benedictine Care Community, Ada, MN.

She was born on August 26, 1930 to Louis and Mable Sjolseth in Twin Valley. Marlis went to country school in Twin Valley until the 8 ^th grade, graduating from Ada High School. She married the love of her life, Bernard "Pat" Kappes on May 23, 1951 in Ada.

She worked most of her career as a waitress. Marlis was president of the VFW Auxillary and the Oracle of Royal Neighbors. She was also a member of the Christian Mothers.

Marlis enjoyed spending time going for Sunday drives, observing the fall leaves, building puzzles, and she especially enjoyed her time spent with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pat; grandson, David; brothers, Leo, Johnny, and Archie; sister, Helen; and nephews, Randy, Darrell, Maury, and Barry.

Marlis will be greatly missed by her children, Marilyn Shivers of Ada; James (Bev) Kappes of Ely, Gene (Betty) Kappes of Ada, Denise (Jeff) Rasmusson of Lockhart; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great- grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews who knew her as "Aunt Mike".

Funeral Mass: 10:30AM, Tuesday, December 3, 2019, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ada, MN. Visitation: One hour before the services at the Church

Interment: Ada Municipal Cemetery, Ada, MN. (at a later date)
