Marlin Klemetson, age 75, of Ulen, Minnesota, died Sunday, October 8, 2006, in Viking Manor Nursing Home, Ulen.

Marlin H. Klemetson was born December 27, 1930, the son of Gustav and Olga (Peterson) Klemetson in Atlanta Township, near Ulen, Minnesota. He attended District 46 school and graduated from Ulen High School with the class of 1949. As a young man, Marlin worked on the family farm before entering the United States Army. He served his country from 1953 to 1955 as a heavy equipment operator. On December 27, 1954, Marlin was united in marriage to Irene Hamernik at the Walworth Baptist Church near Ulen. After Marlin's honorable discharge in 1955, Marlin moved back to Ulen where he was employed at the Ulen Creamery for 11 years. In 1966, Marlin and Irene moved to his home farm near Ulen and began farming. He continued to farm until the late 1990's when he retired and rented out his land. They continue to make his family farm their home.

He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where he served on the church council, was a member of the Flom VFW and served on the Flom-Ulen Coop Board for several years. Marlin found enjoyment in working on old cars and tractors, bowling, camping and attending auction sales and following the Twins, but most of all Marlin treasured the time he spent with his family and grandchildren.

Marlin is survived by his wife of 51 years, Irene of Ulen, MN; sons, Michael (Jennifer) of Flom, MN, Ron (Susan Braseth), Matthew (Staci) all of Ulen, MN, daughters, Deb (Ron) Knudtson of Breckenridge, MN and Sheryl (Dewey) Vetsch of Albertville, MN; brother Justin (Muriel) Klemetson of Ulen, MN; sisters, Ardith (Winton) Fuglie of Detroit Lakes, MN and Orpha (Gene) Schultz of Ulen, MN and grandchildren, Jan, Kayla, Jeff, Jacob, Ashley, Trent, Katie Lue, Travis, Jared, Alayna, Noah, Derek, Savannah, Adison, Olivia and Isabel.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2006, at 11:00 AM in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Ulen. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 11, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM also in Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Visitation will also be one hour before services at the church on Thursday. Officiating will be Pastor Jill Steichen and Pastor John Martinson. Carol Lockhart will serve as organist with Penny Herzog as pianist and Lisa Fuglie serving as vocalist. Pallbearers will be Bob Klemetson, Kelly Schultz, Brad Schultz, Roger Hamernik, Rodney Hamernik, Lyle Fuchs and Jason Hamernik. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of his grandchildren. Military honors will be provided by the Flom-Twin Valley VFW Post #3818.
Interment will take place in Bethlehem Lutheran North Cemetery, Ulen, Minnesota.
