Mark D. Buhaug, 48, of Raleigh, North Carolina, formerly Dilworth, Minnesota was shot and killed during a robbery while at work Friday night, October 24, in Raleigh.
Mark Douglas Buhaug was born December 31, 1959, the son of George and Gladys (Berget) Buhaug in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. As a youngster, Mark was raised in the Hawley community, later moving with his family to Dilworth. He attended Dilworth school from the third grade, through high school, graduating from Dilworth High School with the class of 1978. After high school, Mark attended Moorhead Technical College where he majored in art design. He was employed by West Acres Cinema as well as the theaters in Wahpeton, North Dakota and Fairbault, Minnesota for several years. He attended the School of Communication Arts in Minneapolis from 1997 – 1998, receiving a certificate in Art and Animation. In 1998, Mark moved to Raleigh where he attended the School of Communications Art, Majoring in 3D computer animation, graduating in 1999. He worked as projection manager of the Raleigh Grande from 1998 to 2005. In 2005, Mark became manager of the Marquee Cinemas in Raleigh where he was presently employed. Mark also designed web sites, which he did as a part time occupation.
Mark is survived by his mother, Gladys Buhaug of Ulen, MN; three sisters, Caroline (Carl) Lokken of Ulen, MN, Sandra Perkins of Dilworth, MN and Kristi (Dave) Wolf of Billings, MT; three brothers, Gerald (Kathy) Buhaug of Roseville, MN, John (Lori) Buhaug of Lake Park, MN and Karl (Kim) Buhaug of Moorhead, MN; aunts, Judy Evink of Sioux Falls, SD, Evelyn Nelson of Alexandria, MN; uncles, Odin Berget of Ulen, MN, Russell (Gloria) Buhaug of Lake Park, MN and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his father and his grandparents.
A Memorial Service was held on Friday, November 7th, 2008 at 2:00 PM in Dilworth Lutheran Church, Dilworth, Minnesota.
Inurnment was in Salem East Lutheran Cemetery, Hitterdal, Minnesota.
