Watch Marjorie's Service

Marjorie Ann Dahl, age 91, of Burnsville, MN, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026, at Emerald Crest Memory Care in Burnsville, MN.

Marjorie Ann, the daughter of Bernard and Hazel (Hoekstra) Eken, was born on April 22, 1934, in Ada, MN. She grew up southeast of Twin Valley, MN, in Fossum Township, where she learned the values of family, faith, and hard work that would guide her throughout her life. Marjorie attended Twin Valley High School, graduating with the class of 1952. On March 8, 1953, Marjorie was united in marriage to Raymond Dahl at Wild Rice Lutheran Church. Together, they began their life on a farm near Syre, south of Twin Valley, where they raised their four children: Sherlyn, Steven, Saundra, and Stacy. Marjorie was a devoted and attentive mother who was involved in her children's daily lives, always offering encouragement, care, and steady love. Family meant everything to Marjorie, and that love only grew as she became a grandmother and great-grandmother. She cherished her nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, creating countless memories with them through fishing trips, camping adventures, and time spent together at home. Her kitchen was the heart of the household, where she lovingly prepared meals and where there was always a homemade dessert waiting to be shared. Marjorie had a generous spirit and was known for delivering baked goods to neighbors, friends, and shut-ins, quietly brightening the days of those around her.

Marjorie was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church, where she was active in Ladies Aid and served her church in many ways over the years. She truly had a servant's heart, always willing to lend a helping hand wherever it was needed. Once her children were grown, Marjorie began working as the office manager at Anderson-Erlien Funeral Home, continuing her spirit of service while she compassionately assisted families during their most difficult moments.

Over the years, Marjorie and Ray enjoyed dancing and playing cards together. The couple spent many seasons traveling to Texas, making lasting friendships along the way.  Her hands were rarely idle as she found joy in sewing, quilting, and knitting, creating many beautiful keepsakes that her family will treasure for years to come.  In their retirement, Marjorie and Ray moved from the farm into Twin Valley before later settling in Battle Lake, MN. After Ray's passing in 2004, Marjorie continued to live independently until 2014, when she moved to the Minneapolis area to be closer to her children. Marjorie will be remembered for her quiet strength, her unwavering devotion to family, her faith, and her lifelong service to others.

Marjorie is survived by her children: Sherlyn (Arne Haines) Dahl of Corvalis, OR, Steven (Karen) Dahl of Sioux Falls, SD, Saundra (Dale) Larson of Bloomington, MN, and Stacy (Sheldon) Drake of Apple Valley, MN; nine grandchildren: Derrik (Lori) Thune, Shaun (Emily) Thune, Kelly (Jerry) Vanderheydt, Benjamin Dahl, Leslie Cannon, Dax (Callie) Larson, Mo Hein, Britney Hein, Keith Drake; thirteen great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Betty Eken; and two nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond; her brother, Willis; two infant brothers; and two nephews, Kyle and Lee.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the Anderson Family Funeral Home in Twin Valley.  A time of gathering will be one hour prior.   Inurnment will take place at the Twin Valley Memorial Gardens Veteran's Cemetery.
