Marion Elenore Efteland, a native of Shelly, MN, passed away September 18, 2014 at the Halstad Living Center, at the age of 95.

Marion Elenore Efteland was born December 28, 1918 to Henry and Ida (Moe) Efteland in rural Shelly. She grew up on the family farm, attended Climax High School and graduated from Moorhead State Teachers College, Moorhead, MN. Marion taught elementary school for many years. Her early career included positions in Rush City, MN and LaFayette, MN. She later moved to Brainerd, where she taught third grade for thirty years. In early 1980's, Marion retired from teaching and returned to Shelly, where she was an active member of the community, including the former Zion Lutheran Church.

Senior suppers and playing whist, every Monday, kept her active in her later years. She also loved the reminiscence and keep up with to Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings. Marion volunteered in the local library for several years.

Marion was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Duane; a sister, Helen Sandberg; and a nephew, Brian Sandberg. She is survived by a nephew, Richard Sandberg of Minneapolis, MN.

Funeral Service: Monday, September 22, 2014, at 11:00am in Shelly Marsh River Lutheran Church, Shelly, MN.

Visitation: One hour before the service at the church.

Burial: Shelly Cemetery, Shelly, MN.
