Obituary

Margaret Wibbels, age 83 of Fergus Falls, MN, formerly Bejou, MN, died Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at Pioneer Care Center in Fergus Falls.

Margaret was born April 5, 1934, in Hancock, MN, to Wiebe and Jeanette (Fedder) Hiemstra. She grew up and attended school in Hancock. On January 18, 1957, Margaret was united in marriage to Gerald Wibbels in Hancock. The couple made their home on the farm near Bejou, where they farmed and raised their family. Over the years, Margaret and Gerald farmed small grains and milked dairy cows, selling the cows in 1988. Margaret also worked as a CNA at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine for many years. She later worked at the Mahnomen Health Center in the kitchen. In 2009, Gerald and Margaret moved in with their daughter and son-in-law, Nelva and Bruce, in Pelican Rapids, MN. Gerald passed away in 2010 and Margaret continued to live with her daughter until April of 2014 when she moved into Pioneer Care Suites in Fergus Falls. Most recently, Margaret has made her home at Pioneer Care Center Birch Lake since August of 2016.

Much of Margaret's spare time was spent sewing. She truly enjoyed quilting, crocheting and sewing, making many doilies, baby blankets and even embroidered pillowcases. Upon retiring, Margaret volunteered at the nursing home in Erskine tending to all their sewing needs. In addition to her sewing qualities were her wonderful baking skills. Margaret loved baking and always had a plentiful amount of bars and cookies in the freezer for family and friends. Her face would light up whenever the grandchildren and great-grandchildren came for a visit. She was a member of Assembly of God Church in Mahnomen until it closed, then attending Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bejou.

Margaret is survived by two sons, Llewellyn (Danielle) Wibbels, Roseau, MN, and Brian (Teresa) Wibbels, Euclid, MN; two daughters, Nelva (Bruce) Duckwitz, Pelican Rapids, MN, and Wendy (Titus) Glass, Clearbrook, MN; 11 grandchildren: Justin (Ashley) Duckwitz, Casey (Ashley) Duckwitz, Bridget (Willy) Peasley, Erin (Kenton) Hochhalter, Amber Wibbels, Shay (Kristin) Wibbels, Darian Wibbels, Chantel Wibbels, Tanner Keitzman, Logan Keitzman, Jenna Sieracki; 12 great-grandchildren: Isabel Duckwitz, Halle Duckwitz, Atley Duckwitz, Kali Wibbels, Anna Motz, Russell Peasley, NellieMae Peasley, Hailey Peasley, Easton Hochhalter, Kellen Hochhalter, Jayden Storbakken and Ava Sieracki; two brothers, Harold (Judy) Hiemstra, Kentwood, MI, and Percy, Bryon Center, MI; nieces, nephews and cousins.
