Obituary

Margaret Adeline Timmer was born October 27, 1920 in Lidgerwood, ND, to Frank and Adella (Landa) Busta. She grew up and attended school in Lidgerwood and as a young lady, Margaret moved to Wahpeton, ND.

While going to school and working in Wahpeton, Margaret met Tony. On November 19, 1941, Margaret was united in marriage to Anton Timmer in Lidgerwood. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Wahpeton for a year before moving to East Grand Forks, MN. The couple later moved to a farm near Mahnomen in 1948 and lived on various farms throughout north central Minnesota through 1958. In the fall of 1959, Tony and Margaret settled on the Timmer homestead just northeast of Mahnomen. Together, they worked in the fields, raised small grains and milked cows for many years before retiring in the early 1980s. Even after Tony's death in 1991, Margaret continued to live on the farm. She moved into the nursing home in February of 2007, where she made her home until the time of her death. Margaret died Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at the Mahnomen Health Center Nursing Home at the age of 88.

Over the years, Margaret kept very busy with several activities. She enjoyed canning, baking, playing cards and in her younger years, attending dances. She was also on the Mahube Board, the County Welfare Board, and the Homemakers Club. In addition to these, Margaret was a devoted member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Beaulieu and the Christian Mothers.

Margaret is survived by a daughter, Eileen (Ray) Kaster of Fertile, MN; two grandchildren, Dana Rae (Tim) Pavek of Bluffton, MN, and their children: Aaron, Ally and Ashley; and Danny (Tamaira) Kaster, of Los Angeles, CA, and Danny's daughter, Taylor LaVoi; and one sister, Dorothy Estabrooks, of Cottonwood, ID. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Eugene, and six siblings.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 11 am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Beaulieu, MN. Visitation will be held Friday, January 16th from 5-7 pm with a prayer service and rosary beginning at 6 pm at the Anderson~Mattson Funeral Home, Mahnomen. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the funeral at the church.

Burial will be in the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Beaulieu.
