Margaret (Mug) J. Larson, 67, Fargo, ND, formerly Ada, MN, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2025 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo.

Born on April 14, 1957, in Fargo, Mug was the daughter of Glenn and Myrna (Ruch) Larson. She grew up on the family farm south of Ada, with her five siblings.

After graduating from Ada High School in 1975, Mug pursued a career in healthcare, earning her Licensed Practical Nursing degree. Her passion for caregiving led her to work in in-home healthcare, as a special needs caregiver, in various nursing homes, and most recently at the Clay County Detox Center. One of her most cherished roles was providing in-home care for Jeremy Thompson of Flom until his passing.

Mug was a social butterfly, always ready for fun and adventure. An avid bowler, she participated in numerous state and local tournaments. She also played softball for several years and loved dressing up for Halloween, parades, and other festive events. Mug loved a good road trip and she could often be found sneaking off to the casino, tackling puzzles, trivia, and bingo, hosting unforgettable Friday game nights with Amy, and many laughs were had around the bonfire. She had an eye for thrifting, rummage sales, and curbside treasures. Mug hated bugs, snakes, and frogs, but lovingly cared for many dogs and cats in her life, being partial to pugs and chihuahuas. She could be found cuddling up every night with Mickey.

Above all, Mug's greatest joy was her family, especially her three daughters and nine grandchildren. She cherished their visits, took them to the farm, played endless games, and attended their activities. Sleepovers with Grandma were legendary, sometimes squeezing in up to five grandkids in bed with her at once.

Mug was truly one of a kind, and she will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her children, Amy Ambuehl of Fargo, Caitlin (Andrew Sandland) Larson of Moorhead, and Maggie (Austin Schielke) Larson of Fargo; grandchildren, Henry, Tommy, Gracie, Madisyn, Logan, Kadie, Khloe, Mason, and Silas; bonus children, Jason Thompson, Joey Thompson, and Tarah Trosen; siblings, Susan (Don) Merkens, Paul Larson, Elizabeth (David) Heitman, Sally Gullekson, and Jeanna (Ron) Lakeman; uncle, Monte (Judy) Ruch; aunt, Jan Ruch; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Myrna Larson; grandparents, Harold and Bertha Ruch, and Selmer and Anna Larson; brother-in-law, Merle Gullekson; and many dear aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Mug's vibrant spirit, boundless love, and unforgettable laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
