Marcus Brian Warren, the son of John James Warren and Ivy Ailport, was born on December 25, 1962 in Park Rapids, MN.  He was raised in the Minneapolis, MN area.  As a young man, he worked for a time with Haagen Moving Company.  While living in Minneapolis, Marcus met Lisa Adams, with whom he would share the next twenty years of his life with.  They were blessed with three children: Brandon, Crystal, and Michael.  Marcus attended Culinary School where he nourished his passion for cooking.  In the mid 1980's Marcus and Lisa moved to Northern Minnesota, living in Detroit Lakes and surrounding area for several years before settling near Strawberry Lake.  Marcus worked as a chef for Grover's Diner in Detroit Lakes and later at the Shooting Star Casino.  He loved to cook and was known for his soups and wild rice hotdish, using turkey gizzards as his favorite ingredient.  Marcus also enjoyed gardening and canning the produce he raised making delicious pickles and salsa.  He always prepared for guests and cooked as if he was to feed an army.  His door was always open and visitors never left hungry.  While sharing a meal or a story, Marcus appreciated visiting with friends and family.  he was proud of his Ojibwe heritage and attended pow-wows as often as he could.  He also enjoyed fishing and ricing.  Family was very important to Marcus.  He loved to spend time with his children, siblings, and all his nieces and nephews.  His grandchildren were truly the light of his life.  Over the past few years, Marcus had struggled with disability and addiction, but even through challenges, love remained strong between family. Many wonderful memories will be cherished forever.
