Marcia "Marci" Haider, age 57, of Waubun, MN, died Thursday, March 31, 2016, at Sanford Palliative Care, surrounded by her loving family.

Marci was born December 6, 1958, in St. Paul, MN, to Lenny and Marlene (Martin) Swanson. She grew up on the family farm east of Waubun. She had four siblings: Connie, Monica, Larry and Glenn (Sue). As a child, she was active in her Lutheran faith belonging to Lake Grove Church, rural Waubun. Marci married Gene Haider at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on July 2, 1977. They added a daughter, Brenna, a son, Dan, a grandson, Draeke and his mom, Kera, to their family. When she married Gene, she became a member of St. Joseph's Parish, where she belonged to the Christian Mothers, Ladies Aid and past St. Michael's Sunday School teacher when her children were small. Marci worked for LaDue's Medical Practice for 13 years. She then spent eight years working in the Mahnomen School District Kitchen, graduating to her dream job, working in the Kindergarten class for seven additional years.

In life, Marci's greatest love was caring for her family. She loved camping when the kids were small and she and Gene began motorcycling after they were grown. Fishing was year round enjoyment! The aromas coming from her kitchen were of cinnamon rolls, pies and cookies. Her yard in the summer always showed of Marci's love of her flower gardens, yard work and home. She found she had a passion for refinishing wood furniture, which then became treasures in her home. Marci's dream was to have a shop where she could work on projects for others in her spare time. She had many great finds at second hand stores with Sue and always had some sort of project going. In more recent years, Marci treasured moments spent with Draeke, especially catching frogs and telling each other bed time stories making her heart soar.

Close the door gently, as you go and leave only love behind.

Memorial Services were held Saturday, April 9, 2016, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Mahnomen, MN, at 2 p.m. A time of gathering took place one hour prior at the church.
