Manette LaPort, age 65, of Twin Valley, MN, died Friday, May 13, 2016, at Sanford Palliative Care Unit in Fargo, ND.
Manette Kay LaPort was born July 27, 1950, in Ada, MN, the daughter of John and Alice (Aasgaard) LaPort. She attended school in Twin Valley and graduated with the class of 1969. Following graduation, Manette studied at Moorhead State University for a year before spending time living and working in Mahnomen, MN. In 1972, she entered the United States Army and served as a medic. Manette was honorably discharged in 1975 and returned to the Twin Valley area. She then completed her accounting degree at the Detroit Lakes Vo-Tech. In 1985, Manette began working at the Twin Valley Living Center and continued until her retirement in 2012 after 27 years of faithful service.
Growing up, Manette attended Wild Rice Lutheran Church and in recent years attended Twin Valley Cowboy Church. She enjoyed going to Cowboy Church and bible study. Manette also enjoyed gardening, canning and Christmas shopping for all her family. She had a unique relationship with her brothers, John and Monrad. They would often play cards, work jigsaw and crossword puzzles and spend time going to rummage sales. Manette also collected tea cups, dolls and thimbles.
Manette is survived by her siblings: Linda (Jack) Hoss, of Mahnomen, John, Monrad, Amos (Lonnie) and Donald (Lynnel) all of Twin Valley; several nieces, nephews and cousins and one uncle, Orville LaPort of Waskish, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Ann Marie, and one brother, Lowell.
