Obituary

Macel Klemetson, age 94, of Ulen, MN, died Monday, July 21, 2014, in Essentia Health, Fargo, ND.

Macel Annetta Claone Lien was born September 24, 1919 in Ulen, MN, the daughter of Sebert and Ella (Rikhus) Lien. She grew up in Ulen and attended grade school and later graduated from high school there. While attending high school in Ulen, she was active on the girls' basketball team. As a young lady, Macel continued to make her home in Ulen. During World War II, she and her mother operated the Lien Café in town while her brother who owned the café, was serving his country. On June 11, 1944 she was united in marriage to Clinton Klemetson at Calvary Lutheran Church in Ulen. They made their home on several different farms for the first few years of marriage before purchasing a farm east of town. They operated and lived on this farm until they retired in 1979. At that time they moved into Ulen where they built a new home. They continued to live in their home until 2002, when they moved into Park View Apartments. After Clinton's death in 2004, Macel continued to live there until she moved into the Northern Lights Assisted Living in 2013.

Macel was baptized and confirmed her faith at Calvary Lutheran Church, where she remained a lifetime member. Calvary Lutheran Church was a central part of her life not only shown by her years of serving ladies aid and the Ella Circle, but also with her 79 years of services as the church organist. She was also active in the Ulen VFW Axillary and in addition to serving as the church organist she also played at the Viking Manor Nursing Home for years.

Macel was an avid card player; she enjoyed embroidering dishtowels and loved to watch both basketball and baseball, especially the Minnesota Twins.

Macel is survived by a daughter, Lonnie (Steve) Braseth of Ulen; two granddaughters, Tonya (Beau) Matson of Lake Park, MN and Mindy (Erik) Bakke of Ulen and six great-grandchildren: Dakota Matson, Cole Matson, Gage Matson, Anikka Bakke, Soren Bakke and Trygg Bakke.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband four brothers and grandson, Cory.
