Mabel Rognlie, age 78, of Moorhead, MN formerly of Ada, MN, died Thursday, June 13, 20113 at Sanford Health in Fargo.
Mabel Harriet Ellingworth, daughter of Jesse and Clara (Hovland) Ellingworth, was born on December 9, 1934 in Lockhart, MN, near Ada. Mabel was baptized in rural Hendrum MN, and confirmed in Ada MN. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school. As a young woman, Mabel worked for area neighbors and on Oct 13 1951, she was united in marriage to Orris Holland. The couple made their home in the Ada area and was blessed with four children. While raising her children, Mabel worked as a housekeeper in private homes for many years. In the early 1970's, Mabel met Ron Rognlie and on June 23 1973 they married and lived in Hendrum, MN. Mabel continued in housekeeping, spending many years working at the Holiday Inn Hotel as well as the Hotel in Halstad, MN. Following her divorce, Mabel met Norman Jacobson whom she spent his remaining years with. Mabel made her home near Erskine, MN for a time before moving to Twin Valley, MN. A few years ago, she moved to Moorhead where she has lived since.
Mabel loved to listen to music and enjoyed dancing. She was passionate about her soap operas and almost never missed an episode. Although they were miles apart, Mabel also liked to call her family and "watch" their favorite shows together each week. She enjoyed comedies and also sporting events, especially the MN Twins and Vikings games. Mabel was known for sneaking treats around the house and she always liked to look her best. Her family will forever remember her pink lipstick and desire for perfect hairdo's. Mabel treasured her family and cherished the time she had with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She always ended her conversations with "I love you".
Mabel is survived by one son, Wayne (Norma) Holland of Fargo, ND; two daughters: Diane (Ray Kluck) of Chaska, MN, and Melody Holland of Twin Valley; three sisters; Verona Kragness of Halstad, Clarabelle Sipe of Ada, and Marilynn (Don) Krsnak of Hendrum; fourteen grandchildren: Tina, Donovan, Andrew, Scot, Brooke, Diego, Jayme, Zachary, Carla, Christopher, Carissa, Bobby, Tabitha, and Casey; 20 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Colette in 2012; her significant other, Norman, four brothers; one sister; and a great granddaughter.
A funeral service was held at 11:00am on Tuesday, June 18th at the Anderson Funeral Home in Twin Valley, MN, with Pastor Ken Nyhusmoen officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Steven Ellingworth, Ray Kluck, Casey Ellingworth, Darrell Gulseth, Jayme Al-Alawait, and Zachary Kluck. Honorary pallbearers were all of Mabel's grandchildren. Tricia Olson provided music.
Visitation was held on Monday, June 17th at the Anderson Funeral Home from 5:00pm until 7:00pm, with a Prayer Service at 6:30 pm led by Pastor Wayne Thom.
Burial was at the Twin Valley City Cemetery.
